When people are in homes amidst the corona epidemic, the demand for video calling has increased greatly worldwide. Meanwhile, laptops / desktops are most commonly used for workplace group calling. However, these devices are not of such superior quality as compared to webcam phones. Now Canon has released a new service keeping this problem in mind. With the new service, some of Canon's cameras can be used as webcams for better video quality.

Canon has released EOS Webcam Utility Software for Windows 10. With the help of this software, users can connect compatible DSLRs to desktop or laptop via USB and use it as a webcam. Keep in mind that this software is currently in Beta.

This software currently supports 25 Canon cameras. Some cameras that support EOS webcam utility software are: EOS-1D X Mark III, EOS-1D X Mark II, EOS 5DS R, EOS 5DS, EOS 5D Mark IV and EOS R. List of similar supporting cameras Some cameras in the Powershot series such as the PowerShot G5X Mark II, PowerShot G7X Mark III and PowerShot SX70 HS are also included.

Converting DSRLs to webcams is not a very new concept. Streamers have also previously used high-end cameras for streaming on platforms such as Twitch. However, with the new Canon software, users will be able to do this very easily and with less resource
